Annual Remembrance Day Concert

 

St. Matthew’s presents its 11^th annual Remembrance Day concert, the November edition of its “Te Deum” recital series. Local artists will perform songs of the war years, both WWI & WWII, performed by local Brandon musicians, under the direction of Dr. Art Bower. Friday, November 11 at 3 PM. A silver collection will be taken in aid of St. Matthew’s Organ Fund.

A week in the life

It's one of the very special weeks in the church's liturgical life.
Today is November 2, All Souls Day, the only day of the year when we celebrate the Eucharist at the Columbarium. We started this service a few years ago, and the numbers have grown steadily ever since. We specially remember everyone who was laid to rest from the Cathedral in the past year, along with other requested remembrances, and then read the rest of the plaques in the Columbarium. People are given an opportunity to light a candle in memory of their loved ones.
On Sunday, we will transfer All Saints Day from yesterday, with a celebration of Holy Baptism at the 10:30 service, and then close in the evening with Taizé Prayer.
